NTU Digital Time Capsule

Say "Hello" to Nadine

When Nadine was unveiled to media on the NTU Smart Campus, she was the first realistic social humanoid robot in the world capable of expressing human emotions, gestures and various spoken languages during interactions with real people. Nadine was also able to remember facts and emotions, and could communicate her thoughts unscripted. The innovation was featured in hundreds, if not thousands, of international and domestic news reports, including Reuters, AFP, BBC, CNN, The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia. As a research project, it was also one of the most cited and reported research from NTU as stated by Prof Bertil Anderson at one of his State of the University addresses. Nadine was also the first social robot who worked in a company, at AIA insurance in Singapore as a customer service agent and also the first social robot shown at ArtScience Museum in Singapore that had attracted thousands of visitors.
